Troop 160 celebrates 90 years

Boy Scouts of America Troop 160 recently celebrated its 90th anniversary at a banquet at Cannstatter’s. The troop has been chartered by Immanuel Lutheran Church, at 1015 Cottman Ave. in Burholme, since 1924.


Halloween Spook-tacular event to be held Saturday in Mayfair

The Mayfair Business Association is promoting the third annual Spook-tacular, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at Mayfair Memorial Playground, at Rowland Avenue and Vista Street.


MaST gets big donation

In September, MaST Community Charter School, 1800 E. Byberry Road, accepted a $3,000 donation from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Philadelphia Section to fund a new 3D plastic printer for the school’s new Makerspace. Makerspace is an innovative space with state-of-the-art equipment designed to cultivate creative thinking and unconventional learning among MaST students. Students can study 3D design, robotics, science, technology and healthcare in the facility.
