A taste of generosity

Rita’s Italian Ice recently made its ninth annual check presentation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation toward the fight against childhood cancer. Jeff Moody, CEO of Rita’s Italian Ice, presented Liz and Jay Scott— Alex’s parents — with a $300,000 check toward Rita’s Fund of Hope, an endowment that ensures the travel needs of families whose children are battling cancer are met. Families and childhood cancer survivors attended the event, took a tour of Rita’s Cool University and learned how to make Rita’s Italian Ice.

Archbishop Ryan High School alumni are creating a Ryan Business Association and a Ryan’s Young Professional Group.  The organization will meet on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. at Katie O’Donnell’s, 4501 Woodhaven Road. Clarification

In last week’s editions, the Northeast Times reported that efforts are underway to erect a memorial bench to Pennypack Creek drowning victims including Brandon Boyle. In fact, there are at least two simultaneous memorial bench efforts. Boyle’s family and friends began one fundraising campaign via the gofundme.com website. A second campaign to memorialize other Pennypack drowning victims is in the planning stages. ••
