Street fight leads to shooting in Mayfair

An altercation outside a Mayfair bar spilled onto Cottman Avenue and led to a shooting on May 27.

A 20-year-old man suffered wounds of the upper right arm and finger as two gunmen fired at least seven rounds, police said. Witnesses told investigators that an argument began at about 11:30 p.m. in front of Calloways Inn at Cottman and Rowland avenues and moved west toward Sackett Street. Two men pulled guns on the victim and fired repeatedly. The victim ran to the 2900 block of Cottman, where police found him.

The officers took him to Aria Health’s Torresdale Campus, where he was treated and released. Officers then took him to Northeast Detectives for questioning, but he was not cooperative, police said.

Detectives found three .40-caliber shell casings and four 9-millimeter casings at the scene. They seek information about the two unknown gunmen. Call 215–686–3153 to report a tip. ••
