One person, 22 dogs dead in Frankford fire

The fire on the 1800 block of Sanger Street this morning is still under investigation.

Officials are still investigating the cause of a fire started this morning that claimed the life of one person and 22 dogs.

Companies arrived at a two-story rowhouse on the 1800 block of Sanger Street at 6:45 a.m. this morning and found medium smoke coming from the building. The fire was placed under control at 7:17 a.m.

Two people evacuated the building before the Philadelphia Fire Department arrived and received care from the EMS and were taken to Temple University Hospital.

Red Paw Relief tweeted that six dogs were rescued and 22 were found deceased in the building. ••
