Early media reports said the victim was followed from SugarHouse casino, but police on Monday said the shooting and kidnapping had no connection to the gambling hall.

Police said the man was shot at 10:03 p.m. on the 4900 block of Springfield Avenue in Southwest Philly. He was put into a silver and white van with a cleaning company insignia and driven to the 7400 block of Summerdale in Rhawnhurst, where he was taken out of the van and shot again. Offers responding to a report of gunfire found the man on the street at about 11:30 p.m., police said.

The motive for the shooting was not known. Two to three men with dark complexions are believed to be involved, police said. ••
