Rite Aid has offered a $10,000 reward in an effort to identify and capture three men who committed a Nov. 18 armed robbery of the chain’s previously targeted store at Welsh and Blue Grass roads.
According to the Citizens Crime Commission, which is administering the reward, three men wearing hoodies and masks entered the pharmacy at 4:28 a.m., forced a security guard to the floor at gunpoint and ordered an assistant manager to surrender more than $1,900 in cash.
Police say that the latest robbery was not related to two prior armed heists of the same Rite Aid last May 14 and 21. On Nov. 12, police arrested two men for the earlier robberies and charged them with more than a dozen other area holdups dating back to December 2011.
The reward is being offered for information leading to the arrests and convictions of the culprits in the Nov. 18 case. The Crime Commission did not provide detailed descriptions of the men. A surveillance photo shows one of the suspects wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light-colored pants and a white scarf or handkerchief over his nose and mouth. He appears to be Caucasian. Images of the other two suspects were not released.
