Northeast Celebration is Saturday at Max Myers

The event will feature schoolbag donations from Catholic Community Services.

Take Back Your Neighborhood’s Northeast Celebration is set for Saturday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Max Myers Playground, 1601 Hellerman St.

Participants and activities will include live jazz music, a disc jockey, schoolbag donations by Catholic Community Services, bicycle safety tips by AAA Mid-Atlantic, food, storytelling, a magician, caricature artists, clowns, balloon artist, carnival games, face painting, board games, train rides, glitter tattoo artist, spin art, sand art, origami, fingerprinting, bracelet making, depression screening, flu shots for adults and blood pressure monitoring.

There will be appearances by the Engine 71 fire truck, Elmwood Zoo, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Clay Studio, the Insectarium, the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Home Depot, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Second State Press, community groups and politicians.
