The police and fire departments from Lower Moreland Township participated in a parade for the nursing staff at Artis Senior Living of Huntingdon Valley in honor of National Nurses Day, which was May 6.

“COVID-19 has hit communities that care for the elderly hard and those of us devoted to the work of these places are grieving the loss of patients, residents and clients who have become family while in our care,” said Mary Mattes, director of marketing. “We are doing everything we can to keep our residents safe and we know our sister communities are doing the same in the face of daunting challenges. The Artis Senior Living philosophy of #PositivePartnerships #TheArtisWay has motivated us to strive to create an atmosphere of unity and compassion for our long term care, personal care and home care partners.”

The parade featured singing and applause on balconies and hearts for heroes on display in window panes.
