Drizin-Weiss Post 215 receives state grant to improve security

State Sen. Christine Tartaglione (D-2nd dist.) announced the award of a $116,485 security grant to Drizin-Weiss Post 215 in support of safety improvements at the veterans’ hall and its adjoining shopping center.

“The members of Post 215 served our community and our nation with pride and distinction, so I am thrilled to support their efforts to improve their meeting facility,” Tartaglione said.

“We are enhancing security for the vets that visit the facility as well as the community that uses the center,” Post 215 Commander M.B. Kanis said.

The Post, 913 Tyson Ave., welcomes 1,800 to 3,000 visitors each month. Its $116,485 grant is being administered by the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

Grants totaling $5 million were awarded to 113 organizations in 26 Pennsylvania counties. Amounts ranged from $7,200 to $150,000. ••
