The St. Katherine of Siena Elementary School girls who dance and boys who carry flags annually march in the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which was canceled the last two years.

The parade began in the St. Katherine parish parking lot, 9700 Frankford Ave., and continued on side streets.

The girls danced to I’m Shipping up to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys. The boys carried flags celebrating St. Katherine of Siena, the United States, Ireland, the police Thin Blue Line and the papacy. All wore shamrock masks.

Highway Patrol officer Shaun Duffy led the parade, just ahead of an open pickup truck that played music for neighbors gathered along the route. ••
