The crash occurred at 8:36 a.m. on northbound I-95 near mile marker 34, just south of the Woodhaven Road interchange in Bensalem. According to a state police report, Brown was driving a 2003 Buick LeSabre with the four other victims as passengers. Brown’s vehicle was traveling in the left lane when it made an unsafe lane change and sideswiped another car traveling in the center lane, police said. The Buick then veered sharply to the left, struck a steel guardrail and rolled several times into a grassy median strip. The car came to rest in the median on its driver’s side.

The driver, Deans and Williams were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the car, police said. Solomon and Arango wore seatbelts and remained inside the car. Deans died at the scene. The four other women were taken to Aria Health-Torresdale and Hahnemann University Hospital with “major injuries,” police said.

The second car involved was a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The driver, a 49-year-old Philadelphia woman, was not injured. She remained at the scene as police arrived. ••
