Independence Blue Cross is the leading health insurer in southeastern Pennsylvania, with about 2.5 million members across the region. In addition to cancer treatment services like surgery, radiation and immunotherapy, the center gives patients access to services like a psychiatrist, a chiropractor, acupuncture, spa services and physical therapy.

“There’s a very collaborative approach among the physicians so it makes that collaboration of care a more solid experience for the patient,” said Maria Scenna, chief operation officer of CTCA.

“We treat everyone like we would want a family member to be treated, so it really is embracing that model of care that we want to bring to the local area,” she said.

Scenna also emphasized the importance of early detection cancer screenings that the center offers that Independence Blue Cross holders would have access to.

The agreement went into effect Sept. 1, 2019.
