GBCL hears Anne Frank, furniture store cases

UPS

The Greater Bustleton Civic League last week heard two zoning cases.

Anne Frank Elementary School is seeking a non-illuminated wall sign above the second floor. The capital letters would each be 2 feet high. The sign would be more than 300 feet from Clark Street. A Zoning Board of Adjustment hearing will be June 8. The work should take no more than a week. One man argued it’s a waste of money to put up a sign since everybody knows the property is Anne Frank Elementary School. But 95 percent of members voted to OK the sign.

Legacy Furniture is seeking to move into a space at 9800 Bustleton Ave. The property is zoned industrial, but is close to commercial spaces. There would be 20 parking spots, including two handicapped ones. Hours would be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Members voted 10-9 in favor. A ZBA hearing is set for June 8.
