The fire department said it responded at 5:10 a.m. and found smoke coming from the first floor of a two-story storefront.

About 60 members of the department responded, including firefighters, chiefs, medics and support personnel. The fire was placed under control at 6 a.m.

The cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Later in the morning, owner Jay Pross was on scene as the fire marshal’s office, PECO Energy and members of a restoration team examined the damage and worked to remove water.

Into the late afternoon, a 15th Police District car blocked northbound traffic at Tyson Avenue, and Walgreens customers could not make a right out of the parking lot onto Frankford Avenue.

A Save Art History page has been created on GoFundMe.com. ••
