Krasner wins big; Northeast back Vega

DA Larry Krasner, with two of his supporters, Councilwomen Helen Gym and Jamie Gauthier.

While District Attorney Larry Krasner cruised to victory in Tuesday’s Democratic primary, capturing almost 67 percent of the vote, most Northeast wards sided with challenger Carlos Vega.

Vega won 10 of the 14 local wards, taking 68 percent of the vote.

Krasner will face Republican Chuck Peruto in the general election.

Meanwhile, Democrats nominated eight candidates for Common Pleas Court. The winners were Nick Kamau, Wendi Barish, Cateria McCabe, Betsy Wahl, Chris Hall, Michele Hangley, Craig Levin and Daniel Sulman.

Democrats nominated three candidates for Municipal Court. Winners were Greg Yorgey-Girdy, Michael Lambert and George Twardy.

Statewide, Republicans selected Kevin Brobson to run for Supreme Court.

Democrats nominated Timika Lane in the race for Superior Court.

The Democratic nominees for Commonwealth Court are Lori Dumas and David Spurgeon.

Voters approved five questions, including three amendments to the state Constitution and an amendment to the city Home Rule Charter. ••
