Fire Department is now accepting new applications

The Philadelphia Fire Department on Monday began accepting applications for new firefighters. The application deadline ends on Aug. 23. 


Northeast cleanups are scheduled for Aug. 17

On Saturday, Aug. 17, the Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee, part of the Streets Department’s Sanitation Division, will wind down its 2013 volunteer cleaning season with the last of its three cleanups scheduled for the Northeast’s 2nd, 7th, 8th and 15th Police districts.

Tire Round-Up is Aug. 17

The Streets Department will hold its 2013 Tire Round-Up Program on Saturday, Aug. 17. Participants may drop off illegally discarded tires at Torresdale Avenue and Ashburner Street or at Pennway Street and St. Vincent Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
