A Tacony man has been charged with murder in connection with a quadruple shooting in North Philadelphia that left two men dead and another in critical condition.

Jeffrey Tabarez, 25, of the 6400 block of Edmund Street, was charged Monday, Sept. 2, with murder, criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault and other crimes, police said.

Authorities say he was involved in an Aug. 31 shooting on the 4600 block of N. 4th Street. Felix Moda-Montilla, 25, of the 1100 block of Knorr Street in Castor Gardens, and Jeffrey Otero, 31, were killed after gunshots rang out just before 7 a.m., according to police.

An 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head, and a 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, authorities said.

Tabarez is facing one murder charge and one count of aggravated assault, so it is unclear if investigators believe others were involved in the shooting. He is being held without bail at the State Road prison facility. ••
