Cleanup events planned for MLK Day

Catholic Community Services will partner with several Northeast-based organizations for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 18.

The Friends of Pennypack Park and Holme Circle Civic Association will join with CCS to clean up the Holme-Crispin Cemetery at Holme and Convent avenues, next to the Crispin Gardens Athletic Association fields. Volunteers are encouraged to gather from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call Elsie Stevens at 215–901–9228 for information.

CCS and the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy will conduct another outdoor cleanup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 8297 Bustleton Ave. Call Barbara Wertheimer at 215–742–1500 for information.

Meanwhile, the Take Back Your Neighborhood civic association and CCS will clean up Max Myers Playground, 1601 Hellerman St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call Jared Solomon at 215–205–2167 for information.

All events are dependent on the weather. Volunteers should dress appropriately for outdoor activity. Volunteers may also contact CCS Community Liaison Mary Bell for details at 215–687–2773. ••
