Body discovered in U-Haul truck in Somerton

Two people were taken into custody after police found a body in a trash bag in the back of a U-Haul truck.

Two people were arrested after a body was discovered in a U-Haul truck in Somerton Thursday morning.

Officers from the 7th Police District were responding to a call at 9:03 a.m. yesterday morning when they found the body in a trash bag in the back of the truck. It was parked on the 1000 block of Sanibel Street.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken into custody.

Police also recovered a weapon from the rear of the truck.

Police have not said whether dismembered body parts reported to have been found behind the Wawa at Kelvin and Bustleton avenues are connected to the case.
