Second suspect in home invasion on the loose

Police have reportedly made one arrest and are seeking a second man in connection with Friday’s home invasion robbery in Castor Gardens.

Two masked men were armed with a handgun and burst through the front door of an occupied rowhouse on the 2200 block of Disston St. shortly after 11 p.m., police said. The intruders reportedly threatened a 46-year-old man, his wife and their son and forced them to surrender $420 cash and a cell phone. There was a struggle but were no injuries, police said.

The robbers fled the scene in a 1990s model gold sedan toward Roosevelt Boulevard.

A short time later, police reportedly stopped a car matching that description on the 4700 block of Torresdale Ave. and arrested the 24-year-old man who was behind the wheel, according to multiple media reports. He was alone. Officially, police have not confirmed an arrest in the case or released the names of any suspects.

Police described both robbers as Hispanic and in their early 20s. One is tall and muscular and wore a black sweatshirt and ski mask. The other is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and heavy with light skin and a shaven face. He wore a mask that covered half of his face. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
