Tacony Civic Association elects president

Tacony Civic Association elected Pete Smith to be their new president.

Last Wednesday, the Tacony Civic Association elected a new president and delivered various community updates from different organizations.

Tacony Civic Association president Joe Sanutti decided to resign from his role. Those in attendance thanked him for his time leading the civic association and hope that he remains involved with the group despite no longer holding that position. By a vote of 16–13, Pete Smith was elected the next president.

In other news, Love Your Park Day will take place on Saturday, May 19, from noon to 3 p.m. at Lardner’s Point Park, 5202 Levick St.

The Kick Off to Summer Festival will take place June 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Disston Park, alongside Keystone Street, from Longshore to Magee. The event is presented by Dietz & Watson, and the civic association will provide a craft vendor show, music, raffles, moon bounces and other activities.

The Tacony Civic Association Free Summer Concerts begin next month at Disston Rec, 4510 Disston St. All shows start at 7 p.m. and are free.

Peace Creeps and SB Deluxe will be performing June 14. Witzend and Civic Minded Fools will be performing June 28. Giana Lynn and The Chain Gang are set for their show July 12. Charlie Gracie and Su Z will perform July 26. ••
