Students, teachers, parents and faculty of St. Martha Parish School got to show their tiger stripes one last time after the school year was cut short.

The school last week hosted a parade for families to drive through, wave hello to their teachers and pick up St. Martha lawn signs. More than 100 lawn signs were distributed.

A procession of vehicles turned into the school’s parking lot last Wednesday evening. The cars were filled with homemade St. Martha signs and students excited to see their school again. They drove around the school, greeting the school’s entire faculty wearing red and white with their own signs.

Principal Karen Donofry and Helen Konstance, chairwoman of the SMS School Board of Limited Jurisdiction, were among the faculty present to hand out signs and greet families.

“It was great seeing the students and parents again, but then you realize how much you really miss them,” said Donofry, who said the parade brought tears to her eyes.

“We’re very fortunate to have such great parents, kids and faculty,” she said. ••
