Christ the King Elementary School welcomes Holocaust survivor

Christ the King Elementary School, in Morrell Park, held a Holocaust remembrance event for seventh- and eighth-graders.

The event featured Fegelson, Young and Feinberg Post 697 Jewish War Veterans of the U.S., along with Mayor Jim Kenney.

Daniel Goldsmith, a Holocaust survivor from Belguim, detailed his experience.

Eighth-grader Vienna Varano said, “It’s amazing how brave Daniel and the other children must have been, knowing they could have been caught at any moment. Sometimes I complain about the small things in life, but after hearing his story, I realize how lucky I am to be free.”

Seventh-grader Owen Sherwin added, “I feel that having a perfect race as described by Hitler is unacceptable because we should all be treated with the same respect.” ••
