Mroz announced that Capt. James Kimrey has been transferred to the 5th Police District in Roxborough.

The new commander is Capt. Marc Metellus, recently promoted from lieutenant. Metellus will hold a captain’s town hall on March 15 at 6 p.m. at the Philadelphia Protestant Home.

Mroz mentioned that an 11-year-old in a stolen car crashed the vehicle in the vicinity of Northeast High School.

In a recent two-week period in the 2nd district, there were 72 cars stolen, including 24 Kias and 23 Hyundais.

Mroz said both companies have recently come up with software to make it harder for people to steal the cars. He recommends that people buy The Club.

The officer also encourages people to sign up for the Civilian Police Academy. CPA meets Wednesday nights for nine weeks at the Philadelphia Police Academy, 2838 Woodhaven Road. The next class will begin on April 23. For more information, contact Cpl. Megan Fabrizio at 215-934-4147 or Megan.Fabrizio@phila.gov.
