Mamaatkulov is accused of causing a six-car crash that occurred around 11:45 a.m. April 20 at Bustleton Avenue and Red Lion Road.

Carmen Montalvo Ruiz, 48, and Juan A. Lopez Rivera, 50, both of Feltonville, died at the scene, and five others were injured in the crash.

A preliminary hearing for Mamaatkulov is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, according to court records.

The April 20 crash wasn’t the only recent fatal collision on that stretch of Bustleton Avenue.

A week later, just before midnight on Saturday, April 27, Oleksandr Lysenko, 23, of Elkins Park, died after the car he was driving hit a utility pole on the 9900 block of Bustleton. A 35-year-old male passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and a 29-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Lysenko’s car was traveling at a high speed when he lost control and veered into the pole, authorities said. The crash is still under investigation. ••
