Bucks County man beaten fatally

A Levittown, Bucks County, man was found dead in the drivers’ seat of his car alongside Wissinoming Park, the victim of an apparent baseball bat beating early Saturday, police said.

The attack occurred at about 1:19 a.m. on the 5900 block of Charles St. Police responding to 911 calls found Joseph Britton, 30, of the 7000 block of Curtis Ave., slumped over the steering wheel of a blue Hyundai Tiboron. He was unresponsive and bleeding from the head, and was pronounced dead at 1:26 a.m.

Police reportedly received multiple 911 calls with the attack in progress, including one from a “screaming person” and another from a witness who stated that the victim was being beaten with a bat or stick.

Police have made no arrests and are unsure of the motive. Four suspects reportedly fled the scene northbound on Charles Street toward Benner Street in a black sedan, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria, with tinted windows.
