Charity car show to be held Sept. 11
The fourth annual Maaco of Mayfair Charity Car Show will take place on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7673 Frankford Ave. The rain date is Sept. 18.
Prizes will be awarded to the top cars.
There will be music, food, vendors, games, a 50/50 and Chinese auction.
A portion of the proceeds benefits the Children’s Miracle Network.

Church second-hand shop opening
Ann’s Attic, Holmesburg United Methodist Church’s second-hand shop, will reopen from the summer break on Wednesday, September 7, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The shop features household items, knick-knacks, jewelry, clothes, handbags, toys and tapes and CDs. No item is over $5.
Ann’s Attic is located beneath the sanctuary of the church, 8118 Frankford Ave.
Donations are accepted during business hours. Proceeds from the shop support programs and services of the church, including the King’s Kitchen, the church’s daily meal program, as well as the weekly food cupboard. ••
Dance registration at Chalfont Rec
Registration for Chalfont Recreation Center’s 2016–17 dance program will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon to 2 p.m. Chalfont Dancers is a dance program run through the city Department of Parks and Recreation.
Chalfont Recreation Center is located at 4330–34 Deerpath Lane.
The styles of dance taught include creative, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop. The classes are for people ages 3 to adult.
Classes meet once a week for an hour. They run from the first week of October until the end of March.

Free concert in Tacony park
Tacony will host a free concert on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at Lardner’s Point Park, Levick Street and the Delaware River.
There will be performances by Sean K. Preston and The Loaded Pistols. ••
Caregiver seminar is Sept. 17
St. John Neumann Adult Day Services, 10400 Roosevelt Blvd., will host a caregiver seminar on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The seminar is open to the community.
A professional from Jefferson Elder Care will present on understanding and addressing challenging common behaviors with dementia.

The Union League and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring our Heroes will hold a veterans hiring event and career day at the Union League, 140 S. Broad St., on Monday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
More than 45 companies with job openings will participate. There will be career workshops on personal skills for job interviewing and resumes.
Free business attire will be provided for those in need. The event is free for veterans and their family members and includes lunch and coffee.

Final park concert of the year
Think Pink Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band, will perform on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Pennypack Park Music Festival.
The concert will take place at the Ed Kelly Amphitheater, near the park entrance at Welsh Road and Cresco Avenue.
The crowd will also be entertained by the P.A.W.N. Laser Light Show.
The evening gets underway at 7 with the Star-Spangled Banner. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
The concert marks the end of the music festival season at the park.

Register for Jewish history tour
A three-hour guided tour centered around Philadelphia Jewish history is being offered by KleinLife on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
According to Michael Schatz, education director of KleinLife, the tour will explore the aspects of Jewish heritage and the essence of Jewish life and culture, focusing on the synagogues and neighborhoods along North Broad Street, Marshall Street, Northern Liberties and Strawberry Mansion.
At the conclusion of the excursion aboard a mini-bus, the group will return to KleinLife: Montgomery County in Elkins Park to enjoy a box lunch. Cost for the tour is $50.

Open house at Orleans Tech
JEVS Project WOW (World of Work) will hold an open house on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Orleans Technical College, 2770 Red Lion Road. Enrollment for the free career training class is ongoing. The class starts on Oct. 24.
The 24-week program is for low-income high school dropouts, ages 18–24, residing in Philadelphia.
