2 years later, man arrested in hit and run

After almost two years, someone finally gave accident investigators the tip they needed to solve the December 2014 fatal hit and run of a South Philadelphia woman in Holmesburg.

Philadelphia police announced the arrest of Christopher Cook, 43, of the 1900 block of Westmoreland St. in Kensington, last Thursday.

Cook was allegedly behind the wheel of a black pickup truck or tow truck at about 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2014, traveling northbound on the 8100 block of State Road when it struck Theresa M. Pozzi, 33, of the 600 block of Kimball St. Pozzi suffered unspecified injuries and died a local hospital about an hour later.

The truck was last seen fleeing northbound on State Road. Authorities obtained grainy surveillance video of the suspect’s vehicle and released it publicly. Pozzi’s family and friends, along with AAA Mid-Atlantic, posted reward money for information.

In announcing the arrest, police did not provide more details about the circumstances of the crash or the investigation. Cook was charged with causing an accident involving death, homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter. ••
