On Sept. 5, Dorion Young, 46, of the 2700 block of Taunton St. in Holme Circle, was inside his home with his two sons and the older son’s girlfriend when he and the older son began to argue over use of the family car, authorities say. When the dispute became physical, Young allegedly began waving his loaded .40-caliber pistol, called 911, broke through the door to his son’s bedroom, fought the son and fired two shots. One shot struck the son in the shoe and the other in the back.

Paramedics took the wounded son to a local hospital. He was critically injured, but survived his wounds.

The District Attorney’s Office and police Internal Affairs Unit each investigated the case and announced his arrest on Nov. 22.

Young joined the police department in 1991 and was most recently assigned to the 15th district. He resigned from the force on Nov. 20. ••
