Benefit for homeless pets at Katie O’s

Katie O’Donnell’s, 4501 Woodhaven Road, will host Fur Follies on Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Showtime Charities, a group of local singers, will raise money for local animal rescues and shelters.

There will be face painters, a magician, vendors, raffles, a pet massage therapist, moon bounce, inserting chips for $15, karaoke, music, dancing, fire engines and a K-9 unit.

Adoptable cats and dogs will be on hand.

Pets are welcome to attend if they are on a leash.

“We are very excited to, once again, sponsor a family event that will provide much-needed funds to these special people who dedicate their lives to finding forever homes for these beautiful fur babies. Everyone deserves a second chance,” said Showtime Charities president Debbie Knight.

Football clinic Sunday in Rhawnhurst

The Kenny Kline Football Clinic will take place at Pelbano Playground, 8101 Bustleton Ave., on Sunday, May 22.

The clinic will be hosted by Rhawnhurst A.A.

Registration will start at 10 a.m. The clinic will begin at 11 a.m.

Free shirts will be given to all participants. Local high school coaches will be in attendance.

Music and shopping on Cottman Avenue

A Jazz and Shopping Spring Fling will take place on Sunday, May 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at 3525 Cottman Ave. in Mayfair.

The Gary Grisafi Jazz Trio will entertain.

There will be food, a 50/50 and raffle baskets.

Strawberry Festival at Peddler’s Village

The 38th Annual Strawberry Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 21–22, at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, Bucks County.

Times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

Admission and parking are free. The festival is held rain or shine. ••

Scouts serving spaghetti, salad Saturday

Boy Scout Troop 252 of All Saints Episcopal Church, 9601 Frankford Ave., will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, May 21, starting at 6 p.m.

Prices are $7 for a small dinner and $10 for a large. Takeout trays are also available for $8. The meal includes salad, roll, dessert and meatballs or sausage.

Community fair at Comly has fun in store

Watson Comly School, 1001 Byberry Road in Somerton, will hold a community fair on Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The rain date is Sunday, May 22.

Events will include games, face-painting, bounce houses, crafts, sand art, spin art and sack races. There will also be plenty of food, raffle baskets and a DJ. ••

Comedy show Friday at St. Dominic’s

St. Dominic’s Marian Hall, 8532 Frankford Ave., will host a comedy night on Friday, May 20, from 8 p.m. to midnight. The show will feature three headline acts from the Comedy Works.

There will be food, beer, wine, soda, coffee, tea, prizes and raffles. It’s a BYOB event.

SEPTA delay alerts now available via text or push notifications

SEPTA delay and service interruption alerts are now available from the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management through the ReadyPhiladelphia notification system. Alerts will provide SEPTA riders with an avenue to stay informed and to receive real-time information on delays and service interruptions.

SEPTA’s control center sends out travel alerts and transit delay information through the agency’s app, website and Twitter feed. The ReadyPhiladelphia partnership adds another vehicle for information-sharing and creates a one-stop source for all emergency-related alerts and notifications.

Riders can choose which SEPTA services to monitor, including regional rail, the Market-Frankford El, Broad Street subway, trolley lines, Norristown High Speed Line and bus routes. Alerts can be restricted based on time of day and days of the week.
