When is an assault and abduction not really an assault and abduction? People on a SEPTA bus in the Northeast found out the answer to that last Friday.
The bus driver told police that trouble began at about 1:45 a.m. With the bus stopped at a traffic light at Roosevelt Boulevard and Langdon Street, another motorist got out of his car, screamed at a woman passenger and punched out a bus window. When the light turned green, the bus continued south to a scheduled stop at Langdon Street, where the same woman passenger exited the bus and the same angry motorist was waiting by the door. The man punched the woman twice in the head and dragged her into his car before fleeing the area, the bus driver said.
The bus driver described the car as a silver four-door Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with a Delaware temporary tag on the bumper.
After police released surveillance video of the incident publicly in hope of finding those involved, a woman arrived at the Northeast Detective Division claiming to be the woman in the video. She told police that she had not been abducted and declined to file a complaint.
Police are still trying to locate and question the man in the Pontiac. He was described as black, 25 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build, short hair, no facial hair and a red and black striped shirt. Call 215–686–3153 to report information. ••
