Two Northeast Philadelphia businesses were among about a dozen eateries and food retailers shut down by the city’s Health Department last month after inspectors allegedly found serious health code violations at the locations.
On Feb. 11, the city agency issued a cease and desist order to Rockoz, a corner tavern at 6171 Torresdale Ave. in Tacony, for three serious health violations and 15 violations in total. An inspection report noted “no hot water, mouse droppings in bar counter area, drain line not in good repair, food safety person lacked photo ID,” according to the Inquirer. The city reinspected the business three days later.
On Feb. 16, the Health Department issued a cease and desist order to CVS at 7350 Oxford Ave. in Burholme after an inspector allegedly found one serious violation and nine violations in all. The inspector noted “severe rodent infestation” with “gnawed food items on shelves” and “heavy accumulations of rodent feces on shelves,” the Inquirer reported. The business was permitted to reopen on Feb. 17. ••
