Judge open house is March 10

Do the Irish jig Saturday at Torresdale Library

The Timoney Irish Dancers will perform on Saturday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at Torresdale Library, 3079 Holme Ave.

Maternity BVM school holding registration

Maternity BVM Elementary School will hold registration for the 2016–17 school year on Monday and Tuesday, March 7–8.

Registration will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall, at 9322 Old Bustleton Ave. ••

Benefit concert planned Monday at Katie O’s

Showtime Charities, a group of locally based singers who raise money for charitable causes, will present Color the World With Music to benefit the Kisses for Kyle Foundation on Monday, March 7, at Katie O’Donnell’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, 4501 Woodhaven Road.

Tax-deductible tickets are $20 for the show, and every penny goes to the charity.

The show begins at 7 p.m., and guests are welcome to come early for dinner.

In 1998, Kyle Snyder was just three weeks shy of his second birthday when he was diagnosed with leukemia. He died eight months later.

In 2001 Kyle’s mother, Sharon, founded the Kisses for Kyle Foundation to honor his memory and assist other families in the region battling childhood cancer.

The foundation provides financial assistance and special experiences for families dealing with cancer.

Child artists will be auctioning off their original work. There will be more than 30 gift baskets.

Chopin concert Sunday at Holy Family

The Polish Heritage Society of Philadelphia will hold its annual Fryderyk Chopin Concert on Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m. at Holy Family University’s Sister Francesca Onley Education Center, 9801 Frankford Ave.

The featured artist will be Kate Liu, bronze medal winner at the 2016 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. She is a student at the Curtis Institute of Music.

Tickets cost $30, or $20 for students, and are available at the door. A light reception will follow.

Concert to pay for elevator at Lawndale VFW

A benefit concert will take place on Friday, March 4, at Michael Crescenz VFW Post 2819, 6850 Martins Mill Road in Lawndale.

Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones will entertain from 8 to 11 p.m.

The cost is $40, which includes unlimited draft beer, wine and soda.

Proceeds benefit installation of an elevator at the Post.

Meeting addresses Lawncrest improvements

Philadelphia Water will hold a meeting about stormwater improvements planned for Lawncrest through the Green City, Clean Waters program.

The meeting is scheduled for March 7, from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m., at Lawncrest Recreation Center, 6000 Rising Sun Ave. Refreshments will be served.
