Oxford Circle store robbed at gunpoint

Surveillance photo

It’s not clear whether an armed robber was aware of the surveillance camera at Abreu Mini Market, 948 Sanger St., in Oxford Circle. But the gunman posed for a near-perfect close-up nonetheless.

Police released the video publicly on July 13 in hope of catching the bandit.

The hold-up occurred at 8:25 p.m. on July 11 when a man entered the store, took a drink container from the refrigerator and approached the sales counter. He pulled out a gun, reached around a clear partition and asked an employee, “Do you want to die?”

The worker threw cash on the floor, which the robber retrieved before fleeing. He was last seen heading southbound on Frontenac Street. He was described as black with a dark complexion, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build, a beard, a Yankees cap, a red shirt, blue hoodie, dark pants and black shoes.
