Free haircuts for homeless
Hair Cuttery’s Share-A-Haircut program will take place on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 1–2.
For every haircut purchased on those days, a free haircut certificate will be donated back to a homeless person in the community of one of Hair Cuttery’s nearly 900 salons.
“It’s incredibly powerful to see how one haircut can make an impactful difference in the lives of those less fortunate. It is truly heartwarming to be able to give such joy and confidence,” said Hair Cuttery founder and CEO Dennis Ratner.
Local Hair Cuttery locations are at 4640 Roosevelt Blvd; 9206 Frankford Ave.; 11000 Roosevelt Blvd.; 9475 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Grant Avenue); and 2369 Cottman Ave, in the Roosevelt Mall. ••
SEPTA ID cards available for seniors
Senior citizens who wish to sign up for SEPTA’s Key Senior ID card will be able to apply for one and have their photos taken at the district office of state Rep. Thomas Murt (R-152nd dist.) on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The office is located at 19 S. York Road in Hatboro.
ldquo;This is all part of SEPTA’s transition to their cashless SEPTA Key fare program,” Murt said. “I am pleased to make my office available to help seniors apply for a special card and have their photos taken without having to travel to a SEPTA sales location.”
A SEPTA representative will be at Murt’s office. No appointment is needed. Seniors must bring a valid state-issued photo ID card with their birthdate.
Under SEPTA’s new fare payment and collection system, called SEPTA Key, people age 65 and older will continue to ride free at all times on all SEPTA transit services, including buses, trolleys, the Market-Frankford Line, the Broad Street Line and the Norristown High Speed Line.
Regional Rail fares for seniors will continue to be $1 for rides within Pennsylvania.

Catholic movie shown on Feb. 11
History Making Productions will present Urban Trinity: The Story of Catholic Philadelphia on Thursday, Feb. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Holy Family University’s Sister Francesca Onley Education and Technology Center, 9801 Frankford Ave.
“Urban Trinity: The Story of Catholic Philadelphia explores Philadelphia’s history through the lens of the many Catholic immigrants who shaped and changed the city,” said Sam Katz, executive producer and founder of History Making Productions. “The film exposes the experiences, challenges, sorrows and triumphs of the diverse and unique Catholic communities who have shaped the religious, social and physical landscapes of the Greater Philadelphia region throughout the past three centuries.”
The evening will also feature a discussion led by Katz.
The free event is sponsored by Holy Family, the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Northeast Philadelphia History and the Northeast Times.

Alumnae Tea at St. Hubert High School

Designer Bag Bingo on Feb. 19

Maternity BVM to hold “Blue Mass”
Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Ave., will host a Blue Mass on Sunday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. The Mass is to show appreciation and support to all the men and women who serve the city as police officers, firefighters, military personnel and EMTs. Northeast Regional Library, 2228 Cottman Ave., will host a technical school fair on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
