Four gunpoint robberies reported Saturday

A group of several unknown teenage men in a silver car committed at least four gunpoint robberies within about two hours in the Northeast on Saturday night, Philadelphia police said. Many of the victims were also teens.

Three of the incidents occurred in Parkwood, while a fourth happened in Tacony. All occurred outdoors and involved pedestrians.

At about 9:30 p.m., a male victim was walking in a rear alley behind the 4400 block of Princeton Ave. when three men in a silver car pulled up next to him, exited the vehicle and took the victim’s cell phone and GoPro camera, said Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum of Northeast Detectives. One of the crooks had a handgun.

At about 11:30 p.m., another male victim was walking along the 12000 block of Torrey Road when, he claims, four men in a silver car pulled up to him. Two of the suspects approached the victim, demanded his belongings and stole a cell phone from his pocket. One of the bandits had a black handgun. All four fled in the car.

Ten minutes later, a 14-year-old girl and two boys, ages 13 and 17, were walking along the 3800 block of Woodhaven Road when three males approached them. One of the males pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded their belongings. When one of the victims refused, one of the bandits hit him in the head. The crooks fled with several cell phones and cash. One victim was hospitalized with a black eye and facial bruises.

Ten minutes after that, the same group of crooks in a silver car pulled up to three 16-year-old girls in the Benjamin Rush School parking lot at 11000 Knights Road. Two of the crooks had handguns and stole a cell phone before fleeing in the car, police said.

The robbers were described as black and in their late teens or early 20s. The lead gunman was routinely described as thin. They were in a silver four-door car, possibly a Hyundai or Honda. Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 to report information. ••
