Jewelry heist at Philadelphia Mills

Three men used rubber mallets to steal $100,000 worth of jewelry from a store inside Philadelphia Mills mall on Aug. 17, police say.

With hooded sweatshirts pulled tightly over their faces, the men entered the mall at 1777 Franklin Mills Circle shortly before 10:30 a.m., walked to the Zales Outlet Diamond Store, approached the display cases and began smashing the glass with mallets. The bandits grabbed about a half-dozen Vera Wang rings and about a dozen Celebration brand rings, then walked out of the store.

Investigators determined that the crooks walked back through the mall’s concourse and exited via the red doorway. They fled the area in a blue or silver SUV. No injuries were reported.

Police did not release information about the races or ages of the suspects. Two wore dark hoodies and a third wore a red hoodie. All three wore black latex gloves. Call 215–686–3153 to report information about the case. ••
