A Pokemon hunter became the hunted late last month as a half-dozen unidentified males jumped a 15-year-old Holmesburg boy as he strolled his neighborhood looking for imaginary creatures.

The robbery occurred on July 20 shortly before 9:30 p.m. on the 7800 block of Erdrick St. According to a Philadelphia police source, the victim was “wandering the neighborhood playing Pokemon GO” on a mobile phone when five or six males attacked him from behind and demanded his phone. When the victim refused, one of the assailants punched him and knocked him to the ground. Another attacker stole the phone. All of the suspects fled westbound on Lansing Street.

The victim, who did not seek medical treatment, told police that he didn’t see the attack coming: “He was involved in the game trying to find a character,” the source said. Police were unable to track the phone because it had been turned off. The victim described the suspects only as five or six black males. Police are trying to catch ’em all. ••
