SEPTA announces expansion of key card program
SEPTA has expanded its SEPTA Key Early Adopters program, allowing more weekly and monthly subway, El, bus and trolley riders to obtain the new SEPTA Key card in place of their usual TransPasses.
Expanded sales began on Monday, Aug. 1, at two new locations: SEPTA sales offices at 15th Street Station, as well as SEPTA headquarters at 1234 Market St. On Aug. 8, sales will be extended further to the system’s major transit terminals. SEPTA introduced the SEPTA Key contactless card on June 13 with a pilot program. About 10,000 cards were sold at fare kiosks inside stations along the Market-Frankford and Broad Street lines. Cards are available for weekly riders and monthly riders. Card holders may reload their cards at additional station-based sales kiosks or online. SEPTA Key cards may also be registered by the owner to protect against loss or theft. ••
Game a real hit for police
Join the Philadelphia police baseball team, the Blue Sox, as they take on the New York City police to honor fallen heroes on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. at Arm & Hammer Park, 1 Thunder Road, Trenton, New Jersey.
Proceeds from the game will benefit the FOP Survivors Fund, which supports families of fallen officers. There will be a seven-inning game, followed by a video tribute to heroes and the Wawa Fireworks Show. Fans will be treated to a carnival atmosphere with contests, on-field games, food, soft drinks, adult beverages and music.

Attend movie showing
The award-winning documentary movie Requiem for Syrian Refugees will be shown on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cranaleith Spiritual Center, 13475 Proctor Road. The film is presented in Kurdish with English subtitles and features Syrian refugees telling their own stories of survival, resilience and empowerment. Union League to hold job event for veterans
The Union League, 140 S. Broad St., will host its third annual veterans professional development event on Monday, Sept. 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Union League veterans initiative is partnering with the United States Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring our Heroes program.

Dance registration at Chalfont Rec Center
Registration for Chalfont Recreation Center’s 2016–17 dance program will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon to 2 p.m.
Chalfont Dancers is a dance program run through the city Department of Parks and Recreation, 4330–34 Deerpath Lane. The styles of dance taught include creative, ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop. The classes are for people ages 3 to adult.
Classes meet once a week for an hour. They run from the first week of October until the end of March.

Philly Cops Rock Rally to be held Aug. 7
A Philly Cops Rock Rally will take place on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Frankford and Cottman avenues.
A DJ will play music, and all people are encouraged to wear blue or pro-police shirts and bring signs and flags. Organizers are hoping to have more people at the rally than were at Frankford and Cottman when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup in 1974. ••
