Man charged for NE shooting

Philadelphia police have made an arrest for the April 20 shooting of a Wissinoming man outside of his home.

Court records identify the alleged gunman as Khayrell Keller, 21, of the 1200 block of W. Westmoreland St. On April 20 at about 7:10 p.m., officers from the 15th Police District were called to the 6300 block of Torresdale Ave. in response to a reported shooting.

A 20-year-old man with a wounded hip told the officers that he had been shot by a black man in his 20s with a beard, black shirt and army fatigue-style pants. Police found a man fitting the description a short time later on the 6400 block of Hegerman St. It was Keller. Police did not find a gun.

Authorities did not disclose a suspected motive. Keller was charged with attempted murder and related offenses. Separately, he is scheduled for trial on May 4 on drug dealing, drug possession and gun-related charges stemming from an arrest last Dec. 31. ••
