NE schools receive ‘high performing’ status

Eighty-one percent of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s city-based parish and regional schools have been designated as “high performing” by the Philadelphia School Partnership. Five Northeast schools finished among the top 10 in those rankings, according to the archdiocese.

Our Lady of Calvary School in Millbrook earned a perfect score on the 10-point grading scale, while Maternity B.V.M. in Bustleton, St. Cecilia in Fox Chase, St. Christopher in Somerton and St. Matthew in Mayfair each earned nine points out of 10. In all, 25 city-based archdiocesan schools earned “high performing” designation.

The ratings were based on academics, attendance and safety. The Philadelphia School Partnership posted the results on its greatphillyschools.org website.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our high performing elementary schools in the City of Philadelphia,” said Bishop Michael J. Fitzgerald, who oversees catholic education in the archdiocese. “They truly are a testament to the excellent quality of catholic education available to parents and families in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Not only do our students excel academically, they are also spiritually formed in a Christ-centered atmosphere by caring teachers and staff.” ••
