A former Father Judge football standout who was arrested and expelled for his alleged involvement in the murder of a 15-year-old girl last September may not be tried as an adult after all.
Instead, court records show that Quadir Gibson has been assigned to juvenile placement at Glen Mills Schools in Delaware County, although he had been ordered to stand trial for murder and attempted murder in connection with the Sept. 22 shooting at Broad Street and Olney Avenue. At the time of the incident, police said a fight broke out among teenagers that afternoon and Gibson, then 15, summoned 19-year-old Darian Person to the intersection and directed him to shoot others.
Aisha Abdur-Rahman, 15, was wounded fatally in the crossfire, while a 19-year-old man was also wounded.
In December, Gibson, of the 5900 block of Horrocks St., and Person, of North Philadelphia, were ordered to stand trial as adults for murder, attempted murder, assault, conspiracy and related offenses. Person is scheduled for trial next September.
Court records show that Gibson’s trial court arraignment was cancelled weeks after his preliminary hearing. The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office did not respond to a request for information about Gibson’s placement. Juvenile court records are not available to the public. Gibson’s adult record reflects that he was in custody at Glen Mills as of May 21. ••
