Holy Family University welcomed 29 members of the Class of 2027 into the university’s honors program during an induction ceremony last Friday.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Shelley Robbins, along with Honors Council co-presidents Sean Pramnieks ‘24 and Emily Schwartz ’24, provided opening remarks. Sister Mary Joan Jacobs, CSFN, delivered the invocation, and Mary Carroll Johansen, director of the honors program, distributed pins to the incoming freshmen members as part of the induction ceremony.

As members of the honors program, inductees are invited to enroll in seminar-style honors courses and are encouraged to pursue independent research and scholarship. As participants in the program, they are immersed in service-learning activities as well as campus academic and social events.

“As a freshman, I knew I wanted to challenge myself to the best of my ability,” said Hannah Maurer. “I wanted to make the most out of my time at Holy Family, to better prepare myself to take on the world. Joining the honors program was the right choice for me. Smaller class sizes allow for thorough class discussions and individualized attention. The curriculum allows students to challenge themselves and learn at a faster pace. I feel I will be fully prepared to graduate successfully with the aid of the honors program.”

The Class of 2027 honors program inductees are Renee Althoff, Abigail Bachman, Benjamin Blair, Emily Burgo, Thomas Catanese, Jacky Chen, Marissa Churchray, Peter DeAngelo, Yamalitzy Encarnion, Heaven Flores, Savanah Hannigan, Angela Haq, Taurean Jewett II, Camryn Keller, Alexandra Long, Emily Manion. Savannah Matias, Hannah Maurer, Kara Meredith, Claudia Pagan, Megan Price, Saaliyah Sharif, Rosann Siam, Bridget Sweeney, Brian Trainor, Carmella Tullio, Delaney Vazquez Nazario, Nicole Wiser and Leonard Zuniga. ••
