Senior dies in single-car crash

A senior man from Northeast Philadelphia died in a single-car crash in Bensalem Township on Saturday.

Bensalem police suspect that a medical emergency caused Harry Pappas, 82, to lose control of his car as he was traveling southbound on Knights Road approaching the Poquessing Creek at about 1 p.m. The car veered from the right lane of travel into the parking lot of the Eddington Swim Club. It rolled and came to rest on the roof.

Police also did not disclose the identity of a woman passenger, who was described in media reports as about 80 years old. She suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was treated at Aria Health’s Torresdale hospital.

Bensalem police ask that witnesses to the crash contact Officer Tropiano or Officer Errigo at 215–633–3719. ••
