Philly men arrested in child predator sweep

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office arrested 15 men, including five from Philadelphia, last week in what it called a “child predator sweep,” but has not confirmed if a raid of a rowhome in Upper Holmesburg was part of the effort.

Agents have made arrests in Bucks and Montgomery counties, as well as Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, during the last two weeks, AG Kathleen Kane announced on Friday. But according to news reports, none of the defendants live on the 4400 block of Aberdale St.

That’s where police and members of the AG’s Child Predator Unit conducted a raid on April 15, according to 6ABC. The station cited a Philadelphia police source in reporting that the Aberdale Street raid was part of “an ongoing sex assault investigation.” The station further cited sources in the AG’s office. Authorities led four people from the house in handcuffs, the station reported.

Two days later, Roxborough-Manayunk Patch reported that men from Roxborough, Kingsessing, Port Richmond, Overbrook and South Philly were arrested. The AG’s Office did not confirm that report on Tuesday, stating only that five Philadelphia men were among those charged. The AG’s Office stated that all 15 arrests were related to the online sharing of child pornography and online advertisements related to the sexual exploitation of children. ••
