Castor Gardens man charged in triple murder

A Castor Gardens man with a history of armed robbery arrests has been ordered to stand trial for the executions of three other men inside a Lawncrest home in what authorities have described as drug-related slayings.

After Cori D. Thompson, 22, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on April 7, Municipal Court Judge David C. Shuter remanded the defendant to jail to await trial. He is ineligible for bail because he is charged with capital offenses.

On Feb. 13, 2014, at about 3 p.m., Police were called to a twin home on the 6300 block of Martins Mill Road, where they found the bodies of Keurlin Charles, 25; Vander Freemont, 34; and Brian Williams, 25. All had been shot fatally in the head. Charles and Freemont lived in the house while Williams lived on the 1100 block of Fillmore St. in Northwood.

Investigators said that there was no sign of forced entry into the home, but the place had been ransacked and two of the victims had been bound at the wrists and ankles by duct tape.

Detectives worked the case for months before charging Thompson with the slayings last November. He was already being held in a city prison at the time in connection with an armed robbery that he allegedly committed in March 2014.

Authorities have not said if they believe Thompson had any accomplices in the triple-murder, but he has been charged with conspiracy along with three counts of murder, robbery, burglary, weapons violations and other offenses. His arraignment is set for April 28. ••
