Three Father Judge seniors stabbed on Mayfair street

Three Fath­er Judge High School seni­ors, in­clud­ing a former state cham­pi­on wrest­ler, were stabbed dur­ing a brawl with oth­er teens on a May­fair street last Fri­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, Joe Galasso, his cous­in James Galasso and their friend Tom Bay­er were walk­ing along the 7500 block of Row­land Ave. at about 11 p.m. when they passed an­oth­er group of about 10 young people who were walk­ing on the op­pos­ite side of the street.

A mem­ber of the oth­er group al­legedly threw a glass bottle that struck one of the vic­tims in the head and promp­ted an ar­gu­ment, then a phys­ic­al fight. All three Judge stu­dents were stabbed be­fore the at­tack­ers ran away. Po­lice re­portedly re­ceived mul­tiple 911 calls and ar­rived at the scene to find the in­jured vic­tims in the street. Two of the teens were taken to Aria Health-Tor­res­dale, while a third was taken to St. Chris­toph­er’s Hos­pit­al for Chil­dren. All were lis­ted in stable con­di­tion.

James Galasso and Bay­er are also mem­bers of the Judge wrest­ling team as well as the school’s foot­ball team.

Wit­nesses re­portedly re­cog­nized one of the at­tack­ers, lead­ing po­lice to a house on the 3400 block of Lans­ing St. Of­ficers ar­res­ted six sus­pects in­side the house and cap­tured a sev­enth al­leged at­tack­er a short time later on the 3400 block of Shelmire Ave.

The de­fend­ants are Dav­id Cramp, 19, of Bris­tol; Hel­lena An­dro, 20, of the 15000 block of Lon­don Road in Somer­ton; John Far­rell, 18, of the 3400 block of Ry­an Ave. in May­fair; and Ry­an Palen, 18, of the 8300 block of Tor­res­dale Ave. in Holmes­burg; as well as Tyler Bollinger, Ed­ward Far­rell and Car­los Ji­me­nez, all 17, whose ad­dresses were not re­leased. 

One of the al­leged at­tack­ers was treated at Aria Health-Frank­ford for hand ab­ra­sions. 

All sev­en were charged with ag­grav­ated as­sault, con­spir­acy and re­lated of­fenses and are sched­uled for a pre­lim­in­ary hear­ing on April 11. ••
