Care­giver sup­port 

The first lec­ture in the CARES (CAre­givers RE­du­cing Stress) care­giver sup­port pro­gram lec­ture series will be on Wed­nes­day, March 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Luther­an Set­tle­ment House, 1340 Frank­ford Av­en­ue. The top­ic is ad­vanced health care plan­ning: at­tendees will learn about the new Pennsylvania ad­vance health care de­cisions law, ad­vance dir­ect­ives, health care power of at­tor­ney and guard­i­an­ship. The event is free and open to the pub­lic. Cof­fee and light re­fresh­ments will be provided. Port­side Arts Cen­ter events

Port­side Arts Cen­ter, 2531 E. Le-high Ave., will host a teen bal­let class on Wed­nes­day, March 26, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and a teen hip hop class on Thursday, March 27, from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. An arts and crafts class will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. each Tues­day for ages 7 to 10 and Thursday for ages 4 to 6. The cost is $10. “Girl Power” arts and crafts classes will take place each Wed­nes­day from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $10. Child and teen act­ing classes will take place on Wed­nes­days from 4 to 5 p.m. for ages 5-7, 5 to 6:30 p.m. for ages 8-12 and 6:30 to 8 for ages 13-17. PRCG meet­ing

Port Rich­mond Com­munity Group will have its monthly meet­ing on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Help Chris­ti­ans Church base­ment on Al­legheny Av­en­ue at Gaul Street. The group will meet with new 24th Po­lice Dis­trict com­mand­ing of­ficer Capt. Daniel O’Con­nor, Lieu­ten­ant John Mc­Crory of the 24th Nar­cot­ics Unit and a cer­ti­fied ad­dic­tions coun­selor to dis­cuss drug use and sales in the area. State Rep. Fishtown beau­ti­fic­a­tion

In­ter­ested in mak­ing Fishtown even more beau­ti­ful? Then con­sider join­ing the FNA’s Beau­ti­fic­a­tion Com­mit­tee. Clay cre­ations class

This group will meet for 12 weeks on Fri­day af­ter­noons from 12:30 to 2 p.m. be­gin­ning March 28 through June 20 at St. Anne’s Seni­or Cen­ter at 2607 E. Cum­ber­land St. A free hands-on demon­stra­tion class will take place on Fri­day, March 21, at 12:30 p.m. Learn about the art of hand build­ing with clay to cre­ate pots and oth­er clay cre­ations. Build a kin­et­ic sculp­ture

Phil­adelphia Sculp­ture Gym at 1834 Frank­ford Ave. will host a work­shop on Sat­urday, March 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. Join Bevan of Phil­adelphia Sculp­ture Gym for an in-depth, hands on ex­plor­a­tion of ad­vanced tech­niques for fab­ric­at­ing and dec­or­at­ing a kin­et­ic sculp­ture in this one-of-a-kind fa­cil­ity. There is a $10 fee. ••  

Penny Party

The Amer­ic­an Le­gion Aux­il­i­ary Unit 88 will hold their an­nu­al Penny Party fun­draiser on Sat­urday, March 29, at Elm Tree Post 88, 1414 Palmer Street.  Ad­mis­sion is $3, which in­cludes a bever­age, slice of cake and en­vel­ope of tick­ets.  Ad­di­tion­al tick­ets will be on sale for $1 per en­vel­ope, as well as 50/50 chances, large prize raffle tick­ets and re­fresh­ments.  Doors will open at 1 p.m. and the party be­gins at 2 p.m. ••

Mi­chael Strange Found­a­tion

Slack’s Ho­agie Shack, 2499 Ara­mingo Ave., has joined with the Mi­chael Strange Found­a­tion. On Sat­urday, March 29, from noon to 6 p.m., every soda pur­chased at Slack’s will go to the Mi­chael Strange Found­a­tion. Hood­ies and T-shirts will also be avail­able for pur­chase.  ••

Spring fling beef and beer

St. Lauren­ti­us School De­vel­op­ment Com­mit­tee will be host­ing a Spring Fling Beef and Beer on Sat­urday, March 29, from 7 to 11 p.m., at Holy Name of Je­sus Church Hall, 701 Gaul St. Tick­ets are $20 each and can be pur­chased at the door, at the rect­ory or from the school (call 215 423 8834). Pro­ceeds will be­ne­fit St. Lauren­ti­us School and Holy Name of Je­sus Par­ish. ••

Chili cookoff

Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation is look­ing for con­test­ants for its 4th An­nu­al Chili Cookoff. The event will be held on Sunday, March 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 2424 E. Soft­ball league

Brides­burg Rec activ­it­ies

Zumba classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. Zumba ton­ing classes will be held on Wed­nes­days at the same time. The fee for all classes is $4 per per­son. 

Scrap­book­ing will be held on Wed­nes­day even­ings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per class. You only need your pho­tos and a book. 

A ladies bowl­ing league will be held Tues­day morn­ings at 9 a.m. at Erie Lanes. The cost is $10 per week, which in­cludes bowl­ing and prize money. For more in­form­a­tion, call 215-685-1247. Blight busters ball

NK­CDC will cel­eb­rate their 2nd an­nu­al Blught Buster’s Ball at Frank­ford Hall on Thursday, April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The board of dir­ect­ors along with busi­ness own­ers, de­velopers, polit­ic­al lead­ers and loc­al res­id­ents will gath­er to toast the ef­forts of NK­CDC to raise funds for the or­gan­iz­a­tion. Het­zel’s field fun­draiser

A fun­draiser for Het­zel’s field will take place Sat­urday, April 5, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Holy Name Church Hall, 701 E. Gaul St. It will be an oldies themed event with mu­sic from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Tick­ets cost $25 and in­clude food and beer. Flea mar­ket

Ice cream party

Holy Name Church Hall, loc­ated at 701 Gaul St., will host an ice cream sundae party with the East­er Bunny on Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m. Boys and girls make their own ice cream sundaes and vis­it with the East­er Bunny. The cost is $2. Bring your own cam­era for pic­tures. ••

Bas­ket­ball clin­ic

Big 5 Hall of Famer Jen Ricco-Mc­Cook will be teach­ing bas­ket­ball clin­ics on Monday nights at Co­hox Re­cre­ation Cen­ter at 2901 Ce­dar St. from 6 to 7 p.m. be­gin­ning April 7. 

The clin­ic will run for five weeks. The cost is $5 per ses­sion or $20 for all five. Re­gis­tra­tion will be held on the first Monday night ses­sion. Two Sat­urday clin­ics will also be held; a ball hand­ling clin­ic on Sat­urday, April 12 and a shoot­ing clin­ic on Sat­urday, May 17. These clin­ics will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and cost $20 each. Re­gis­tra­tion will be held on the day of the clin­ic. In­di­vidu­al and team clin­ics can also be ar­ranged.
