NE Hall of Fame seeks nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the fourth induction class of the Northeast Philadelphia Hall of Fame.

Readers can nominate living people, historical figures and institutions. The deadline is April 11. A nine-member selection committee will choose the latest inductees. The induction ceremony will take place in October at Holy Family University. Nominations can be mailed to Northeast Times, 2512 Metropolitan Drive, Trevose, PA 19053.

The Northeast Philadelphia Hall of Fame is sponsored by Glen Foerd on the Delaware, in partnership with Holy Family University, the Northeast Times, City Councilman Dennis O’Brien and the Historical Society of Frankford.

The following people have already been inducted: Thomas Holme; Benjamin Rush; Robert Purvis; Henry and Mary Disston; St. Katharine Drexel; Harry Silcox; Butch Ballard; Tom Gola; Joan Krajewski; Sister Mary Scullion; Frank Shuman; the Rev. Leon Sullivan; Ed Kelly; and Chris Ferguson.

Other inductees have been Aid For Friends, Special People In Northeast Inc. and the following historic houses of worship: Unity Monthly Meeting Frankford, Byberry Monthly Meeting, Pennepack Baptist Church, Trinity Church Oxford, Presbyterian Church of Frankford and Campbell African Methodist Episcopal Church. ••
