Crook complains about coffee, robs Wawa

Surveillance photo

Maybe he was expecting a free cup of coffee. But when a Mayfair Wawa patron didn’t get one, he grabbed the store’s cash instead.

The robbery occurred on March 21 at 3:38 a.m. at 7001 Roosevelt Blvd. According to police, the man poured a cup of coffee and approached a cashier as if to pay for it. When the clerk told him how much to pay, the man complained about the price, motioned as if he had a weapon inside his coat pocket and demanded money.

The employee surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash to the crook, who fled on foot toward the 2800 block of Tyson Ave. He was described as white, 35 to 40 years old and about 160 pounds. He wore a green skull cap, black coat, black pants and a scarf or turtleneck covering his face. He also had white sneakers and gloves.
